FIELD: sorbents. SUBSTANCE: new zeolite adsorbents superior to worldwide known zeolite adsorbents of the same type with regard to their adsorption capacity and mechanical strength are prepared by mixing silicon and aluminum sources, granulating mixture, and crystallizing granules in alkali solution. Mixing is performed in two steps: first, sodium silicate and aluminate solutions are mixed to form hydrosol coagulating into hydrogel and the latter is then mixed with meta-kaolin. The thus formed granules are aged until hardened, impregnated with alkali solution, crystallized, and finally subjected to hydrothermal activation. EFFECT: improved adsorption characteristics. 13 cl, 3 tbl
