FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of a potassium form of synthetic zeolite with structure A. Disclosed is a method of producing a potassium form of granular type A zeolite, which involves mixing starting components, forming granules, drying and thermal activation thereof, followed by hydrothermal crystallisation in an alkaline solution, wherein the components are mixed in impact-shear load mills with power density of 0.1-70 kW/kg for 0.05-4 hours. Calcined kaolin and solid sodium aluminate are fed for mixing in molar ratio 1:(0.2-0.5). The temporary process binder used is 3-5 wt % modified starch or carboxymethyl cellulose. Thermal activation is carried out at 450-700°C, and hydrothermal crystallisation is carried out in one step in an alkaline solution with potassium hydroxide concentration of 4-6 mol/l.
EFFECT: use of the disclosed method increases dynamic capacity by 12% and overall porosity of the sorbent granules by 3,5% on average, and direct synthesis also enables to obtain a potassium form of zeolite while cutting the number of process operations by excluding the cation exchange step.
