FIELD: heat generation. SUBSTANCE: polar fluid is exposed to optical pulse beam in vicinity of its contact with surface of fluid-immersed light-reflecting screen made of material wettable by mentioned fluid or coated with such material. Screen and long source of optical pulse beam in the form of pulsed gas-discharge tube connected to pulse voltage supply are placed in tank holding operating polar fluid. Tank is inserted in closed hydraulic loop incorporating also pump and heat exchanger.
