FIELD: portable laser units including manual ones with directly cooled laser rod assembly.

SUBSTANCE: laser unit 10 has casing forming hollow space accommodating lasing emitter and low-pressure region formed in inner space to facilitate generation of gas coolant flow therein. Lasing emitter has pump lamp and laser rod. Source generating gas coolant flow is maintained within inner space. Cooling system has casing, emitter, and jacket. It functions to force coolant about external surface of laser rod when jacket is rotating about rod. The latter may have conical configuration or may be made in the form of polygonal truncated pyramid.

EFFECT: reduced number of coolant flow stagnation regions, enhanced efficiency of heat transfer between laser rod and coolant, augmented cooling of laser working zone and intake of human tissue particles.
