FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, device for electromagnetic holding of molten metal in gap between rotating shafts. SUBSTANCE: device has a pair of casting shafts rotating in opposite directions and arranged with each other with vertically oriented arc-wise narrowing gap for holding of molten metal mass. Located near the gap is electromagnetic device for confining molten metal. Presented are various methods for modification of control and efficiency of device. In one design, teeth from magnetic material protrude out of device mutually conjugating with peripheral protrusions on casting rolls. In some other design, device has limiting roll with frontal surface facing the open part of gap and which has arc-wise narrowing contour corresponding to gap contour. Electric current passing through wide upper part of narrowing frontal surface of limiting roll is higher than the current passing through narrow lowest part of frontal surface of limiting roll facing the narrow lower part of molten metal mass. EFFECT: excluded turbulence in molten metal in gap between rolls and reduced power losses and inductness leakage in device. 55 cl, 21 dwg
