FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: chuck is used for clamping tools (drill, for example); it includes torque limiting unit which is turned manually for clamping the tool in jaws of chuck. At definite degree of tool clamping, torque limiting unit is released after which further turning of member by hand makes cam and cam-type follow-up mechanism operate, thus intensifying the clamping of tool in chuck jaws. When chuck is slackened for release of tool, cam and cam-type follow-up mechanism are automatically set in initial position ; as a result, chuck is again ready for use.
