FIELD: solid fuels. SUBSTANCE: high content of sulfur in slates from some deposits prevents their utilization as power-plant fuel. When thermally treating such slates, heterocyclic sulfur compounds Ц thiophene and its derivatives are isolated. In order to increase yield of these compounds and increase their concentration in volatile heat processing products, high-sulfur slate in dustlike state suspended in restricted amount of primary gas oxidant is heated to 300 C or higher, after which hot suspension in gas is transferred, over prechamber, into cyclone-type reactor, while prechamber additionally receives oxidant in amount sufficient to raise reactor temperature to 700-800 C. EFFECT: increased isolation of valuable sulfur compounds. 1 dwg
