METHOD OF CONTINUOUS CASTING OF BEAM CASTINGS (VERSIONS) Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: continuous casting of castings suitable for rolling in cast form of the entire range of sections of ready beams in family of structural products without changing the geometry of castings in cogging mill before finish rolling. SUBSTANCE: method includes use of mold having regulated end-face walls and gap in vertical wall running through mold. Gap has constant cross-sectional area (Aw). Mold has at least one gap of shelf running through mold. This gap is adjacent to gap of vertical wall and made for changing its cross-sectional area (Af). Position of at least one end-face wall is regulated relative to gap of vertical wall for changing Af with obtaining Aw/Af ratio equalling ratio of Aw/Af in manufactured beam. Liquid steel is poured into mold through gaps in vertical wall and in shelf. With use of subsequent rolling, beam casting is formed to have Aw/Af ratio equalling the ratio of mold. One more version provides for pouring of liquid steel into mold through gaps, and then regulation of position of vertical wall relative to gap, at least one end-face wall with changing Af, so that Aw/Af ratio corresponds to this ratio for ready beam. Beam casting is formed and ready beam is produced by rolling with Aw/Af ratio equalling the ratio of mold. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 12 cl, 1 dwg, 2 tbl
