FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: device for continuous casting of I-beams contains a one-piece mould (1) with a section of the working cavity in form of an I-beam. On the ends of the mould (1) side walls (10, 11) of the detachable part of the mould are fixed. The walls (10, 11) together with the profiled walls (8, 9) form a detachable part of the prefabricated mould. The metal is fed into the mould (1), where an I-shell (13) of the solidified metal with a liquid phase (12) is formed and it is moved into the strikers of the detachable part of the mould. Cyclic action of the strikers on the two walls of the shell bend these walls and form the shelves of the I-beam. As the shell passes through the strikers, the shell walls approach each other and the liquid metal is displaced and mixed. The I-beam wall is formed when the shell walls are completely closed. The workpiece is formed under conditions close to compression from all sides, since compressive stresses act on the shell from the side of the walls, and hydrostatic pressure acts from the side of the liquid phase, which eliminates the occurrence of cracks in the shell.

EFFECT: improved quality of I-beam blanks and increased productivity of the continuous casting process.
