FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: lines of Pitot Px and static Po pressure are mounted on pipe-line with the use of lock chamber. Three ultrasonic converters are installed in measurement tube connecting Px and Po lines at base distances one from another. First converter operates under emission mode and second and third converters work under reception mode. Electron unit of gear realizing proposed method incorporates initiation circuit, circuit forming information signals which pulse repetition period is proportional to value of maximum velocity of flow in pipe-line and including pulse generator, amplifier-former, eight electron keys and six diodes, circuit forming sequence of standard pulse including flip-flop and one-shot multivibrator and reading circuit with three counters. Momentary flow rate of water is found by results of reading by second counter of sequence of standard pulses of one-shot multivibrator in each measurement cycle. Summary number of standard pulses counted by third counter during time of preceding cycles evaluates total flow rate.
