FIELD: metering carrying capacity of main pipelines. SUBSTANCE: water is tapped from desired sectional area of stream to static-pressure line by means of full-pressure line of actuating unit through metering tube. Three effective planes spaced apart through base distance are set in the latter. Sounding pulse is shaped by means of ultrasonic transducer in second plane each time before starting measurement cycle. Number of sounding pulses simultaneously recorded by ultrasonic transducers mounted in first and third effective planes is read out off the electronic unit. With records made at different moments, results read out are cleared and instant flowrate is determined by number of standard pulses shaped by electronic unit within time space between last clearing and moment when reading result exceeds first preset value. Total flowrate is determined by total number of standard pulses shaped during preceding measurement cycles between moments when read-out data were higher than first and second preset values. EFFECT: improved resolving power. 2 cl, 3 dwg
