METHOD OF TREATMENT OF LOCOMOTOR SYSTEM DISEASES AND DEVICE FOR ITS IMPLEMENTATION Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

Abstract RU 2126276 C1

FIELD: traumatology; orthopedics; neuropathology. SUBSTANCE: method includes electric stimulation of muscles in walking due to installation of pair of electrodes. In this case, affected region of locomotor system is exposed to correcting, unloading, fixing and bearing capacity enhancing actions by placing rigid orthesis on patient. Electric stimulation is performed in phases of natural excitation and contraction of muscles realizing synchronization of muscle electric stimulation with step phases by means of angle data transmitters installed in region of knee or hip joint. The device for implementation of the method has microprocessor system, joint angle data transmitters and their data processing unit, retunable generator, pulse distributor, coincidence circuit, channel switch-on register, stimulating pulse former, and electrodes. The device is provided with stationary and portable transmitter-receiver interconnected by radio channel. The device also includes stationary and portable coder and decoder, synchronizer and crystal oscillator. Method ensures maximum adaptation of muscle stimulation to individual features of physiology of man's neuromuscular system and development of completely independent operation of device and patient's movement. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of treatment, extended range of application, enhanced reliability. 5 cl, 1 dwg
