FIELD: storage cells and batteries. SUBSTANCE: membrane chemical source of electric energy, in particular, fuel element of improved type has great number of galvanic cells, each one composed of double-pole plates, current collectors, electrodes and membranes. Functions of transfer of electric current through galvanic cells, of release of heat into environment, of distribution of electric current to electrodes and membranes, of removal of heat from electrodes and membranes and of distribution of reagents and products are executed by certain components, specifically, by double-pole plates for first two functions and by porous current conducting collectors for other functions. Double-pole plates can have flat surfaces without grooves and are manufactured preferably from aluminum, titanium or their alloys with employment of cheap technology of mass production. In this case double-pole plates are used together with collectors displaying deformability, residual elasticity and high porosity. These collectors function successfully as distributors of gaseous reagents and products. EFFECT: improved heat and current collection from electrodes of galvanic cells. 31 cl, 6 dwg, 1 tbl
