FIELD: chlorine- alkaline electrolysis. SUBSTANCE: chlorine-alkaline diaphragm electrolyzer contains vapors of alternating anodes and cathodes. Cathodes have surfaces provided with holes and covered with porous corrosion-resistant diaphragms. Electrolyzer has additional inlets for supply of brine and outlets for release of chlorine, hydrogen and caustic. Anodes of expanding type are fitted with internal expanders and have electrode surfaces with holes for release of produced gaseous chlorine. Anodes carry at least one compression aid made from corrosion-resistant material and showing resilient properties to keep electrode surfaces of anodes under constant and uniformly distributed pressure against diaphragms. Anodes are predominantly equipped with thin rolled gauzes attached to each of electrode surfaces facing diaphragm and with hydrodynamic means suitable for enhancement of internal circulation. EFFECT: reduced stress as compared with traditional values obtained for known electrolyzers of diaphragm type. 8 cl, 4 dwg
