METHOD OF STANDARDIZED ULTRASONIC DIAGNOSTICS OF FUNCTIONAL DISTURBANCES OF OESOPHAGEAL, GASTRIC, AND DUODENAL SPHINCTERS IN BABIES Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

Abstract RU 2126647 C1

FIELD: gastroenterology. SUBSTANCE: examinations of oesophagus, stomach, and duodenum in newborns and infants are carried out with six standard positions of ultrasonic scanner using, as contrast substance, female milk or adapted dairy mixture and, if inborn hypertrophic pyloric stenosis is suspected, liquid barium sulfate suspension based on adapted dairy mixture. First scanner position: sensor is placed dorsally on patient's neck to the left from backbone (longitudinal scanning). Position 2: sensor is located obliquely above umbilicus at angle 20-25 deg. opened to the right in liver direction. Position 3: sensor is located on medial line, downwards from xiphoid cartilage (longitudinal scanning). Position 4: sensor is placed in parallel with costal arc from xiphoid cartilage. Position 5: sensor is located perpendicular to medial line at angle 15 deg. opened cranially 1-2 cm above umbilicus (transversal scanning). Position 6: sensor is located in parallel with right-hand costal arc from xiphoid cartilage. EFFECT: increased diagnostics accuracy. 10 dwg, 2 ex
