FIELD: mechanical engineering, more specifically, automotive industry, in particular, methods of manufacturing exhaust devices provided with means of catalytic cleaning of exhaust gases. SUBSTANCE: method consists in formation of catalytic layer on surface of band made from alloy with high electrical resistance. Catalytic layer based on modified aluminum oxide is formed by plasma spraying of aluminum powders in the amount of 0.5-5 wt.% and aluminum hydroxide with accompanying impurities, the balance. Plasma-forming gas is used in the form of air or any other oxygen-containing mixture. Band with applied layer is perforated, folded up, rolled up or formed by some other manner to obtain bulky structure of catalytic unit with through channels. Then, the catalytic unit is subjected to heat treatment and catalysts are applied by means of impregnation. The merit of the offered method is manufacture of catalytic unit where functions of heating and catalysis are combined. EFFECT: higher electric resistance of catalytic unit, developed catalytic surface, adaptable to manufacture and guaranteed high degree of adhesion of catalytic layer to surface of resistive heater. 7 cl
