FIELD: refractory manufacture, in particular, manufacture of nonfired alumina refractories with application of ceramic binders. SUBSTANCE: mixed ceramic binder is produced by separate production of highly concentrated suspension of alumina component and clay with their subsequent mixing in the following amounts, by dry substance, %: alumina component, 80-98; clay component, 2-20. Alumina suspension is characterized by content of 10-25% of particles with diameter less than 1 mcm, and clay contains 40-80% of these particles. Mixed binder with moisture content of 13-20% is used in refractory mixes made by static pressing, vibration pressing, vibratory casing, vibration tamping. For binder with addition of 5% of refractory clay and after heat treatment at 1200 C, its bending strength increases from 22 to 35 MPa and after heat treatment at 1400 C, from 38 to 60 MPa.
