FIELD: refractory materials. SUBSTANCE: refractory parts (immersion barrels, insulating tubes) are manufactured from high-silica material (mullite, chamotte with 60-90% alumina)-based suspension and granular filler obtained from high-silica material with particle size 0.05 to 0.5 mm at ratio of fine portion to filler between 3:2 and 1:1. Ratio of high-silica material to silicon carbide in filler ranges from 1:1 to 7:3. Molding is effected by slip or centrifugal technique at specified mold rotation speed. Parts subjected to heat treatment at 1000-1250 C are characterized by porosity 10-18%, compression strength 20-100 Mpa, and high chemical stability under steel-tapping conditions. EFFECT: improved working characteristics. 2 cl
