FIELD: manufacture of refractories, in particular, alumina mixes for manufacture of cast-in-situ linings of heat units (for instance, casting ladles). SUBSTANCE: mix consists of binding system, 25-35%, and alumina filler sizing 0.1-10 mm, 65-75%. Binder is based on quartz sand or quartzites with addition of 5-15% of refractory clay and in some cases of highly dispersed quartz glass, 5-15%. Mix characterized by moisture content of 4.5-6.5% may be formed by static pressing and vibration pressing. Cast-in-situ linings are made by vibration tamping or ramming with the help of sand-throwing machines.
