FIELD: railway transport. SUBSTANCE: variable gauge system has device for changing gauge width with rails for changing gauge width connecting wide gauge rails and narrow gauge rails, and railway car supporting rails. Circular grooves are made on end parts of bogies axles. Bogie has devices to prevent vertical displacement of each axle box relative to axle or their disconnection before beginning of bogie movement along rails changing gauge width. Each device has wedge members pressed to surface of corresponding circular groove for coupling axle box and axle or disconnecting them by lifting wedge. members from surface of circular groove.
