FIELD: railway.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to variable gauge railway vehicles and, in particular, to an axle for a variable gauge wheel pair and to a variable gauge wheel pair. The wheelset with variable track width contains an axle (10), in the axial direction of which there is a central through hole (15). External splines (11) extending along the axial direction of the axle (10) are provided on the periphery of the axle (10) near the middle part. The first non-self-locking threads (14), having opposite directions of rotation, are respectively located on parts located on two sides of the axial direction of the outer splines (11) of the periphery of the axis (10). An oblong hole (12) extending in the radial direction of the axis is made in a part located on the outer splines (11) of the axis (10), the length direction of which is the axial direction of the axis (10). At least one first raceway (13), made around the axis (10) in the circumferential direction, is provided on a part of the axis (10) between one of the first non-self-locking threads (14) and the outer splines (11).
EFFECT: simplicity and reliability of changing the track width.
