FIELD: metallurgy, more specifically, steel melting in converter from vanadium iron. SUBSTANCE: method includes charging of scrap into converter, pouring into converter of vanadium iron, top blowing of melt with oxygen through immersible multinozzle lance, variation of flow rate of oxygen and time of melt blowing, determination of content of carbon in melt and also discharge of melt from converter and leaving slag therein. When discharging melt, all slag is left in converter and content of carbon is determined in melt. After discharging of melt, next portion of vanadium iron is poured on remaining slag. Oxygen flow rate and duration of melt blowing during the next heat are reduced form the respective values during the first heat in converter by the value specified in the invention description. EFFECT: higher efficiency, simplified process of steel melting and production of vanadium pentoxide. 1 tbl
