FIELD: metallurgy; melting electrical-sheet steel of silicon grades followed by their desulfurizing, deoxidation and alloying. SUBSTANCE: method of melting electrical-sheet steel in converter includes charging metal scrap into converter, pouring molten iron, supply of slag-forming materials to converter, purging melt with oxygen, determination of chemical composition of melt, tapping melt into ladle, supply of slag-forming materials and alloying composition to ladle including lime and fluorspar. Part of slag from previous melting cycle is left in ladle; consumption of slag is found from the following dependence: Q = K•q•[0,28•Sn/Sm+0,6/τ+(1-Cn•25)], where q is consumption of mixture of lime and fluorspar, kg/t of melt; Sn is content of sulfur in melt at turning-down the converter, mass-%; Sm is preset content of S in finished steel, mass-%; Cn is content of C in melt at turning-down the converter, mass-%; τ - is time of tapping the melt from converter, min; K - 0.75 to 0.95 is coefficient. Mixture of lime and fluorspar is fed to ladle at ratio of (2-3):1. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency; increased productivity. 1 tbl
