FIELD: metallurgy, more specifically, melting of steel in converter from vanadium iron. SUBSTANCE: method includes supply of metal scrap into converter, pouring of vanadium iron into it, top blowing of melt with oxygen through submersible submersible multihole lance; supply of slag-forming materials into converter; determination of melt chemical composition; steel discharge from converter with leaving slag in it for use in next heat. After steel discharge, supplied to converter onto slag are lime and coke with specific consumption values within 5-8 and 2-5 kg/t of melt of previous heat, respectively. Slag is blown with oxygen through submersible lance with oxygen consumption equalling 0.5-0.8 of oxygen consumption in previous heat for 2-4 min. Lance is lifted in converter for a value equalling 30-50 calibers of lance holes relative to its position at the end of blowing of previous heat. Process of steel melting, its discharge from converter with slag left in converter is repeated 2-6 times. EFFECT: higher efficiency of steel melting process and production of vanadium pentoxide. 1 tbl
