FIELD: continuous drying by superheated steam. SUBSTANCE: device uses drying chamber 10, having open-ends, inlet and outlet conduits 11, 12 communicating with the chamber, and containers 13, 14, 15 for movement of material to be dried over the inlet conduit through the chamber and over the outlet conduit. Superheated steam is generated in the chamber from moisture contained in material 19 to be dried at circulation of primary gas in the chamber between heat source 23 and material, and/or by means of injection of superheated steam into the chamber from an external source. Both inlet conduit 11 and outlet conduit 12 are directed downwards from chamber 10, ventilation duct 22, outgoing from the chamber, has outlet 26 mainly at the level between the conduits. In the process of operation superheated steam, rushing downwards over the conduits, meets with outdoor air, rushing upwards over the conduits, and forms stratified region 21 with layers of different temperature and density. These region act as barriers for leakage of steam from the chamber providing for free transportation of material over the conduit into chamber 10 and back from it. EFFECT: prevented steam leakage through inlet and outlet conduits. 14 cl, 7 dwg
