FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: friction clutch has housing, friction, pressure and cover disks with pressure spring mounted between these disks and housing. Clutch is provided with engaging and release devices, adjusting device for compensation for wear of friction disk and for constant (as far as possible) pressing of cover disk by pressure spring. Automobile equipped with such clutch is provided with pedal-operated clutch release system. According to first version, clutch unit includes friction clutch and spring device for gradually decreasing the torque transmitted by clutch at one section of clutch release stroke. According to second version, clutch unit includes torsional damper; pressure disk is just one part of fly-wheel; fly-wheel consists of two parts which are turnable relative to each other overcoming action of torsional damper. Clutch unit for internal combustion engine includes friction clutch connected with output shaft of internal combustion engine through axially flexible member. Unit of drive includes gear-box and friction clutch mounted between drive engine and gear-box.
