FIELD: agriculture, soil science, drainage and irrigation and hydrology. SUBSTANCE: invention refers to technique studying erosion processes under action of run-off. Potential of erosion resistance of soils is found by measurement of space of cavity formed under action of water jet running out from reservoir under pressure through nozzle in the course of fixed time interval. Space of cavity is determined by its filling with calibrated loose material out of graduated burette. Potential of erosion resistance of soil presents work of destruction and removal of unit of mass of soil sample and is computed by formula obtained on the basis of laws of conservation of pulse and energy.
