FIELD: technical microbiology, ecology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to microbiological degradation of 2,4,5-trichloro- -phenoxyacetic acid (2,4,5-T) that is ecologically dangerous compound. Method involves the use of new strain of bacterium Bacillus cereus VKPM B-7164 obtained by selection of natural microorganisms. This strain is able to utilize 2,4,5-T as a carbon and energy source. This provides a possibility of its use for treatment of environment and water polluted with 2,4,5-T. Strain shows polysubstrate specificity, does not accumulate toxic metabolites.
