FIELD: mechanical locking contrivances. SUBSTANCE: locking device has key and lock cylinder with cylinder core which is installed for possible turning in body. Cylinder core has passage in axial direction for key. Key passes through shifting strips having wide sides. Shifting strips are installed successively one after another with possible displacement in cylinder core. Shifting strips interact with steps of key bit made on key stem to be set in position ensuring possibility of turning cylinder core. For this purpose shifting strips are adapted for turning around axis of key stem. Range of angular displacement of separate shifting strips is limited by stops. Wide sides of shifting strips are separated from each other by balls which are inserted into plate-made separators installed between each pair of shifting strips. Balls protrude beyond both wide sides of shifting strips. Aforesaid embodiment of locking device is simple to manufacture, easy to operate and requires low effort to manipulate with key.
