EXPRESS METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING HERPES NEUROINFECTION IN CHILDREN Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

Abstract RU 2129717 C1

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves detecting herpes antigen, herpes antibodies and determining immune complex concentration in the whole liquor and blood serum of the child. The whole liquor and blood serum are taken in 1:10 dilution and mixed in equal volume portions with standard herpes antigen or herpes antibodies or placebo. 1 or 2 hemolytic doses of guinea pig serum are added as exogenous complement to the so obtained mixtures. The guinea pig serum is taken in double volume quantity relative to the mentioned mixtures volume. The so produced solutions are hold for some time. Then herpes antibodies concentration is determined in sample containing whole liquor and standard herpes antigen and in sample containing blood serum and standard herpes antigen using immunoenzyme bioassay. Immune complex concentration is determined in sample containing whole liquor and placebo and in sample containing blood serum and placebo. Herpes antigen concentration being greater than 60% relative to a control value and herpes antibodies concentration being greater than 20%, acute form of herpes neuroinfection is diagnosed. Immune complex being absent in liquor, initial stage is diagnosed. Immune complex concentration being 50-60%, 5-6 days from the disease beginning is diagnosed. Herpes antigen concentration being 20-60% in liquor or blood serum and immune complex concentration in liquor being greater than 50% and herpes antibodies concentration in liquor being less than 20%, the end of acute herpes neuroinfection activation period is diagnosed. Herpes antigen concentration being 20% and lower in liquor and herpes antibodies concentration in liquor being greater than 50%, light form of herpes neuroinfection or early reconvalescence period are diagnosed. Herpes antibodies concentration in liquor is greater than 60%, and absence of herpes antigens is detected, infectious process termination is diagnosed. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy in diagnosing the disease and its development stages. 2 tbl
