FIELD: medicine, virology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of diagnosis of viral infection caused by epidemic parotitis virus. Antigen is detected by liquid immuno-enzymatic test after patient saliva freezing for 3 h at -20 C followed by centrifugation. Then precipitate is diluted at ratio 1: 5 and combined with reconvalescent serum at equal volumes being serum has antiparotitis-viral antibodies of titer (1:640)-(1:1280) and two doses of complement. The presence of antigen is determined by spectrophotometry. Method ensures to detect antigen in saliva of patients with different forms of parotitis-viral infection being in the cases of absence of its isolation in sensitive tissue cultures. EFFECT: improved method of diagnosis, enhanced sensitivity. 4 tbl, 1 ex
