FIELD: power engineering and other industries such as mechanical, building, refrigerating engineering, and the like. SUBSTANCE: flexible heat-insulating mat is multilayer system built up of shield layers separated by packing material with safety layer overall. Mat for high-temperature surfaces has its shield layers closest to this surface made of heat-resistant material of high reflectivity and low absorbing capacity, such as polished stainless steel foil, their quantity being capable of reducing temperature to 250-300 C. Next shield layers are made of polished aluminum alloy foil. Packing material is heat-resistant gauze made, for example, of glass-reinforced threads; mesh size of gauze depends on complexity of surface curvature. External safety layer contacting high- temperature surface is made of heat-resistant material such as broaching metal silica fiber pre-treated by heat.
