FIELD: technology of processing highly enriched armament uranium into low-enriched uranium used as power producing fuel. SUBSTANCE: method includes electrochemical dissolving of highly enriched uranium in 2-5 mol/l solution of nitric acid at temperature not above 50 C and initial anode current density of 0.2-1.5 A/sq.cm. Electrochemical dissolving, after dissolving of 85-90 wt.% of uranium is carried out in presence of hydrazine with its concentration in solution of 4-8 g/l. Produced solution is directed for extraction refining with subsequent processing of reextract up to uranium oxides. EFFECT: reduced cycle of processing of armament highly enriched uranium, higher quality and stability of extraction refining with obtaining of uranium of required purity with respect to plutonium. 1 cl
