FIELD: mining. SUBSTANCE: method consists in that in planning of stopes in tectonically stressed sedimentary deposit, particularly, in coal deposit, to prevent and/or to suppress, resulting from mining, rock bursts and/or caving of rock mass, subject to detection are resulting from tectomechanical process sections or zones with two-dimensional or linear preliminary treatment for rocks displacement caused by mining. Then stopes are oriented on them and/or measures are taken to release stresses in rock mass involves in mining and/or to provide for additional safety of stopes. EFFECT: higher efficiency in prevention of rock bursts and provision of safety in mining. 22 cl
