BULLET FOR PLAIN-BARREL GUN Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: ammunition of plain-barrel guns. SUBSTANCE: bullet includes interconnected subcaliber head part 1 and wad- stabilizer. Head part 1 is fitted with rod 2 with outer thread. Rear section 4 of head part 1 forms rectangular edge 3 without chamfer and rounding near base of rod 2. Presence of front section 5 and heavy insert 7 is also permitted. Wad-stabilizer includes caliber conical-cylindrical base 8, caliber rectangular ribs 9 and rod 10 with through treaded hole 11 which jointly form open trapezoidal sector interrib spaces. Excess of radius d₁/2/2 of section 4 over radius d₂/2/2 of rod 10 and minimal length of sector space are related as 1:5 as minimum. Hole 11 is ended with cross spline 12. Length of rod 2 does not exceed that of rod 10 with formation of axial thimble, hollow or filled with light material. Through holes (conduits) 13 located in symmetry and predominantly longitudinally right above radius d₂/2/2 or at some angle with exit to axial thimble are provided in base 8. Material of wad is less dense and hard. EFFECT: increased accuracy and killing properties thanks to more effective (double) stabilization of travel in muzzle bore and in flight and to partial compensation of rarefaction in space beyond bullet combined with simplified design and manufacturability. 2 cl, 2 dwg
