FIELD: petrochemistry and hydrogenation catalysts. SUBSTANCE: catalyst is obtained via thermocatalytic pyrolysis of associated oil gas or natural gas for 0.3 to 10 hr at 310 to 960 C and volume velocity of raw material intake 800 to 120 hr-1 in presence of intermetallic compound Zr-Ni-H as hydrogenation agent. Worked out catalyst mass is fractionated on molecular sieves to give 113-192 mm fraction. EFFECT: enabled selective hydrogenation of triene hydrocarbons in mixture with aromatic hydrocarbons. 4 tbl
