FIELD: construction engineering. SUBSTANCE: in compliance with method mounted on puncher or close to it is signal producer in the form of rotating magnetic field. Magnetic field is rotated so that rotation plane of vector of magnetic moment of emitter is perpendicular with respect to puncher axis. Location of aforesaid plane in space is determined by means of directive characteristics of antennas, and according to orientation of aforesaid plane determined is direction of puncher axis. Determined are parameters of magnetic field gradient vector. Used for purpose are at least two measurements, and according to direction of vector, determined is direction towards emitter. According to gradient modulus and cubical dependence of magnetic field strength, determined is distance to emitter. Device for realization of aforesaid method has single-channel receiver comprising commutators at its input and output. Outputs of antennas are connected to inputs of first commutator. Output of first commutator is connected to input of adjustable amplifier. Output of amplifier is connected to input of second commutator. Outputs of second commutator are connected to inputs of computer. Output of computer is connected to indicator. Aforesaid invention solves the problem of determining direction and angling of puncher, increases accuracy in determining distance, enhances noise immunity, performance reliability, and simplifies design of device.
