END SEAL Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: sealing devices for revolving shafts of pumps, machines and apparatus in chemical, oil refining and other industries. SUBSTANCE: two and more circular grooves are made in flat friction surface of revolving ring which are connected with cavity to be sealed through axial and radial passages. Axial passages are made at angle of α = 3-10^o to axis of rotation of revolving ring and are directed outside from axis of rotation in way of motion of medium being sealed. Thus, medium to be sealed penetrating into first groove via axial and radial passages returns to cavity being sealed. Part of medium being sealed which penetrates into second groove also returns to cavity being sealed, thus reducing leakage of medium outside through end seal. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency and reliability. 3 dwg
