FIELD: construction engineering; investigation of physical and mechanical properties of soil. SUBSTANCE: shear analyzer has shearing mechanism, vertical pressure mechanism with respective top and bottom sleeves, shells, and force transducer, as well as horizontal shear mechanism with displacement transducer; built in vertical displacement mechanism is second force transducer mounted on bottom shell; control unit is, essentially, controller coupled through digital-to-analog converter with horizontal shear mechanism, through second digital-to-analog converter, with vertical pressure mechanism, through first analog-to- digital converter and first normalizing amplifier, with first force transducer, through second analog-to-digital converter and second normalizing amplifier, with second force transducer, through third analog-to-digital converter, storage-retrieval device, and third normalizing amplifier, with displacement transducer which is coupled through transducer power supply with storage-retrieval device. Analyzer functions to maintain constant normal pressure in shear plane in case of dilation or contraction and also to maintain constant desired speed of shear or to control it in the course of loading.
