FIELD: construction industry. SUBSTANCE: gear is meant for mechanical testing for stability and limiting state of models of building structures in the form of flat free one- and two-span multilevel frames. Gear is versatile since it enables tested model to be loaded with both vertical and horizontal loads. Gear makes it possible to test models of frame systems both for stability under nodal transfer of load and for limiting state under simultaneous action of vertical and horizontal loads. Usage of this gear makes it feasible to achieve full actual similarity of operation of tested model under load with that of real building structure. Gear includes base, fixtures to anchor model, loading and measuring facilities. Facility for formation of horizontal load is manufactured in the form of weights on ropes pulled over tension block and facility for vertical load is fabricated in the form of suspended weights mounted for movement over horizontal sections of model. Measuring facilities made in the form of strain-measuring devices-deflectometers make it possible to measure horizontal translations of units in plane of frame directly.
