ARMOR-PIERCING BULLET AND PROCESS OF ITS MANUFACTURE Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: small arms ammunition. SUBSTANCE: armor-piercing bullet includes stepped envelope, head, leading and tail parts. Armor-piercing core fixed along internal surface of tail part of envelope and jacket are installed in envelope. Relation of midsections of core and bullet is 0.3-0.4 with ratio of their masses not less than 0.45 and relation of thickness of envelope in tail part to diameter of core is 0.1-0.2. Process of manufacture of armor-piercing bullets with armor-piercing core protruding out of envelope includes pressing in of core with jacket in envelope and reduction of head part of envelope. Reduction of tail part to core is carried out simultaneously with reduction of head part of envelope. EFFECT: enhanced armor piercing action of bullet. 2 cl, 3 dwg
