FIELD: medical engineering, in particular, surgical instruments. SUBSTANCE: thumb forceps have two springy branches with working surfaces in the form of jaws and guide mechanism. The latter is made in the form of projection with spherical surface on one branch. Projection is conjugated with respective hole on other branch with hole diameter equalling projection diameter, or guide mechanism in the form of projection with bevel from two sides of spherical surface and cylindrical neck at bevel extension. Forceps also have mechanism limiting fixed initial distance between jaws. Limiting mechanism is made in the form of fixed screw with head and secured to one branch and hole with bearing surface on other branch. Passed through hole is screw which limits with its head lower surface the return motion of jaws. Head surface is held by hole bearing surface preventing action of flexible return force of branch. As a result, operation efficiency is increased due to accurate drawing-together or jaws and reduced applied compression force. EFFECT: improved design. 5 dwg
