FIELD: catalysts for water purification from dissolved nitrates and/or nitrites by their reduction in presence of hydrogen. SUBSTANCE: catalyst consists of inorganic carrier made of silicate fiberglass materials including silicon oxide from 55 to 98% with fiber diameter within 1-10 mcm having porous structure with internal surface area of 2-100 sq.m/g used in the form of woven articles and nonwoven block, and metal from series including palladium, rhodium and/or palladium modified by metals of group including copper, tin, indium, silver, zinc with total content of metal in fibrous carrier within 0.01-1.0 wt. %.
