FIELD: hydrogenation catalyst. SUBSTANCE: invention is aiming at finely cleaning hydrocarbon systems to free them from acetylenic and diene compounds polluting monoolefins. Catalyst contains at least one active component selected from VIII group metals in quantities from 0.001 to 1.0 wt.% on oxide support. The latter can be glass-fiber silicate material with 50 to 99.9 wt.% of silica and specific surface 0.1 to 200 sq.m/g. Single fibers of glass-fiber support are 1 to 20 mcm in diameter. Support can have both woven and nonwoven structure. Catalyst also contains 0.01 to 2.0 wt.% of promoter selected from alkali and/or alkali-earth metals, tin, molybdenum, and tungsten. Selectivity of such catalyst with regard to acetylenic and diene compounds reaches 98-100% at basically complete conversion of compounds to be hydrogenated. EFFECT: increased resistance against heat, sulfur-containing compounds, moisture, and other catalyst-contaminating substances. 3 cl, 2 tbl, 8 ex
