FIELD: transport engineering; passenger car bumpers; active and passive safety devices. SUBSTANCE: proposed device has cross rigid bumper bar with flexible members in form of two conical springs for connection with car frame. Conical spring coils are made oval and extended along bumper line. Surface of bumper bar is coated with layer of elastic material restoring its initial form after removal of impact load. Device can be furnished with four conical springs connected in pairs and hinge connected to each other. EFFECT: rational use of space between car body and bumper, effective reduction of energy level taken up by car body at collision, provision of safety of bumper and front panels of car at collision at slow speed. 4 cl, 6 dwg
