FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: vehicle bumper relates to impact power-absorption devices. The bumper contains a mobile power-absorbing shock plate and a motionless basis tied together by means of racks hinge-jointed to the said plate and basis and arranged symmetric about the vehicle lengthwise axis. Every rack consists of two bars of continuous rectangular section made from plastic metal with cellular structure, hinge-jointed together by their end faces facing each other. A complete folding of racks is provided for in folded bumper. To this end, hinge joints of bars with the shock plate, the basis and among themselves are made in the form of continuous hinges arranged along parallel and transverse edges of bars, the said hinges being arranged nearby adjacent row bars on opposite edges. Hinges jointing the shock plate with the bars are fitted on one-piece parallel half-axles arranged consecutively in one plane provided with taper gears engaged with similar gears fitted on the shaft running in running supports perpendicular to the aforesaid half-axles.
EFFECT: higher impact power absorption capacity.
