FIELD: transport engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention is designed to protect vehicle from damage in case of collision with obstacle. Proposed device cushions shock of collision and absorbs energy of shock. Device contains bumper and hose-type shock absorbing guard arranged over vehicle body in its lower part. Bumper is made in form of movable energy-absorbing member installed in vehicle body front part and flexibly connected to body by means of system of four-link parallelogram articulated mechanisms arranged in horizontal plane. Tops of mechanisms lying on diagonals parallel to longitudinal axis of body are hinge-connected with movable member of bumper and with body. Tops lying on cross diagonals are hinge connected in succession by helical cylindrical springs. Spring connecting extreme side tops of system of articulated mechanisms is concentrically inserted over entire contour into guard hose made in form of closed rigid steel pipe.
EFFECT: simplified design of safety device, increased efficiency of absorption of shock energy, enlarged sphere of application.
