FIELD: water supply technology. SUBSTANCE: method relates to procedures of producing fresh water from masses of ice immersed in water for example from icebergs. According to method, bore-holes are drilled in iceberg, and pump together with heater are installed in bore-holes. To ensure optimal water producing conditions it is recommended in zone of heater operating space during withdrawal of water to maintain pressure for purpose of instigating flowability of ice due to pressure differential in space and surrounding water medium. Amount of heat emitted by heater must ensure ice thawing tempo at which subjected to thawing is entire amount of ice reaching aforesaid space under action of pressure differential. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 1 cl, 2 dwg
