FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: proposed engine can be used as drive in different machines, stationary and mobile power generating plants, in automotive, tractor and power engineering and other branches of industry in manufacture and operation of vehicles and power plants. Rotary engine has housing and rotor made in form of one cylindrical solid of axial rotation with two smoothly connected diametrically opposite projections of side surface. Rotor is mounted on shaft coaxially with inner surface of housing. Engine has radially moving slide valves placed in radial guides of housing over circumference so that first slide valve, being rear wall of intake chamber, is located between exhaust and intake channels, and second slide valve is located behind first slide valve in direction of rotor rotation being displaced through angle from intake channel equal to central angle of arc describing projection on rotor and directly behind inlet hole of bypass channel, and third slide valve, being rear wall of expansion chamber, is located before first slide valve being displaced also through angle equal to central angle of arc describing projection on rotor. Ignition source is located in combustion chamber furnished with inlet valve and connected with housing space through port opening at initial section of expansion chamber. Bypass channel is connected with inlet valve and is made in form of independent element outside the housing.
