FIELD: laser engineering. SUBSTANCE: pulsed-periodic laser, including CW chemical and supersonic medium flow laser, has optical cavity formed by output mirror, cavity-end mirror, and optomechanical gate placed in-between on optical axis of cavity; gate is, essentially, revolving multifaceted or end-mounted mirror. Optomechanical gate and cavity-end mirror form Q-modulator. Cavity-end mirror is made in the form of periodic range of reflecting sections separated by nonreflecting gaps and placed on surface or on part of surface surrounding revolving mirror. Focusing mirror or telescope may be placed, in addition, on optical axis of cavity in front of revolving mirror to match aperture dimensions of beam and reflecting sections.
